Product Overview

Brand-new AMC loaded cylinder head assembly compatible with Toyota 1KZ-T and 1KZ-TE 3.0L turbo diesel engines found in the Land Cruiser Prado, Hilux Surf / 4Runner, Hilux, Hiace, and Grand Hiace / Granvia. This complete assembly arrives pre-assembled with camshaft, valves, valve springs, valve guides, valve seats, and pre-combustion chambers — ready to install after a professional surface inspection and, if required, machining. Two variants are available to match your engine's specific piston configuration. Selecting the wrong variant can result in piston-to-valve contact and catastrophic engine failure; verify your piston type before ordering.

OEM Part Numbers — Recessed Valve Variant:

  • 11101-69125
  • 11101-69126 (OEM, supersedes 11101-69125)
  • 11101-69127 (OEM, alternate early casting)
  • 11101-69128 (OEM, supersedes 11101-69127)

OEM Part Numbers — Flush Valve Variant:

  • 11101-69175

Variant Selection Guide — Critical: Read Before Ordering

The 1KZ-T and 1KZ-TE platforms use two distinct cylinder heads and piston combinations. There is no reliable way to identify which variant your engine uses by model year or chassis code alone.  We can attempt to verify the values based on chassis code and VIN; however, the only definitive method is to remove the existing cylinder head and inspect the piston crowns directly.

  • Recessed Valve Head (Safe / Universal): Intake valve recessed approximately 0.90mm below the head face; exhaust valve recessed approximately 1.80mm below the head face. Valve length: 103.5mm (exhaust), 103.4mm (intake). Use this variant when your pistons do NOT have valve relief pockets machined into the crown. This is the safer universal choice if you cannot confirm your piston type — the additional valve recess provides a margin of clearance for both piston configurations.

  • Flush Valve Head: Intake valve recessed approximately 0.20mm below the head face; exhaust valve recessed approximately 1.20mm below the head face. Valve length: approximately 104.3mm. Use this variant ONLY when your pistons have valve relief pockets (cutouts) machined into the crown. Installing a flush-valve head on pistons without relief pockets will cause piston-to-valve contact.

Fitment

Year Model Engine
1988–2002 Toyota 4Runner / Hilux Surf (KZN130) 1KZ-T / 1KZ-TE 3.0L Turbo Diesel
1993–2002 Toyota Hilux Surf (KZN185) 1KZ-TE 3.0L Turbo Diesel
1993–2002 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 70 Series (KZJ70/KZJ78) 1KZ-TE 3.0L Turbo Diesel
1996–2002 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 90 Series (KZJ90/KZJ95) 1KZ-TE 3.0L Turbo Diesel
2000–2009 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 120 Series (KZJ120) 1KZ-TE 3.0L Turbo Diesel
1993–2005 Toyota Hilux (KZN165) 1KZ-TE 3.0L Turbo Diesel (various markets)
1993–2004 Toyota Hiace (various KZ-series) 1KZ-TE 3.0L Turbo Diesel
1995–2002 Toyota Grand Hiace / Granvia 1KZ-TE 3.0L Turbo Diesel

Important: Fitment covers all 1KZ-T and 1KZ-TE engines regardless of variant (mechanical or electronic injection pump). Verify your piston crown type (with or without valve relief pockets) before selecting the variant. If you cannot inspect the pistons, order the recessed valve variant as the universal-safe option. Confirm the engine code stamped on the block before ordering. Professional surface measurement of the block deck is strongly recommended before installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between Recessed Valves and Flush Valve variants, and how do I know which one I need?
A: Both are loaded cylinder head assemblies for the Toyota 1KZ-T and 1KZ-TE engines that differ in valve protrusion depth. The recessed valve has shorter valves that sit further below the head face and is used on engines whose pistons do NOT have valve relief pockets machined into the crown. The flush valve has longer valves that sit closer to the head face and is used on engines whose pistons DO have valve relief pockets. The only reliable way to identify which type you need is to remove the old cylinder head and inspect the piston crowns. If you cannot inspect the pistons, the recessed valve variant is the safer universal choice—it provides adequate clearance for both piston types.

Q: Do these cylinder heads fit both the 1KZ-T (mechanical pump) and 1KZ-TE (electronic pump)?
A: Yes. Both castings are compatible with both the 1KZ-T (mechanical injection pump) and the 1KZ-TE (electronic injection pump) variants. The cylinder head casting is the same across both engine codes — the primary difference between 1KZ-T and 1KZ-TE is in the fuel delivery system, not the cylinder head architecture.

Q: What OEM Toyota part numbers do these AMC heads replace?
A: The recessed valve replaces OEM Toyota part numbers 11101-69125, 11101-69126, 11101-69127, and 11101-69128. These are the early-production head numbers used across 1988–1999 applications. The flush valve replaces OEM Toyota part number 11101-69175, the later-production number used on 2000 and newer applications.

Q: Is this a remanufactured head or a new casting?
A: These are brand-new AMC castings machined from new aluminum billet — not remanufactured or reconditioned cores. AMC manufactures its Toyota cylinder heads at its facility in Nules, Castellón, Spain, under IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 quality certification. Each head arrives with guides, seats, and pre-combustion chambers installed, with the loaded version adding a camshaft, valves, and valve springs.

Q: What parts do I need to order alongside this cylinder head for a complete rebuild?
A: A complete 1KZ-TE cylinder head replacement requires: a new head gasket set, new head bolts (18x, AMC ref 258058 / M12 × 1.25 × 126mm, torque-to-yield — never reuse), timing belt and tensioner kit, water pump, thermostat, and camshaft oil seal. If your engine has overheated or experienced coolant loss, also inspect the turbocharger, radiator, and coolant hoses before reassembly.

Q: Can I install this cylinder head myself, or does it require a machine shop?
A: Professional installation is required. The block deck must be measured for flatness (maximum allowable warpage is typically 0.05mm per Toyota specification) and resurfaced by a machine shop if out of tolerance. Head bolt holes must be cleaned and thread-chased. Valve timing must be set precisely using appropriate tools. Attempting a cylinder head replacement without proper surface preparation is the leading cause of repeat head gasket failure on the 1KZ platform — the cost of a machine shop inspection is far less than a repeat repair.

Q: Does the 1KZ-TE have an interference engine design?
A: Yes. The 1KZ-TE is an interference engine, meaning the piston and valve travel paths overlap when the timing belt fails. If the timing belt breaks on a running 1KZ-TE, the pistons will contact the open valves, causing immediate and severe internal damage. Always replace the timing belt, tensioner, and idler when servicing the cylinder head — these are considered mandatory wear items whenever the engine is opened.
